In health care, self-care is any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated. Believe it or not, some people who place self-care on a continuum with health care providers at the opposite end to self-care. In modern medicine, preventive medicine & holistic health aligns most closely with self-care. ALL of my doctors (and I have many specialists) have told me my healing is determined by how I care for myself. This is why talk to my clients about Body, Mind, & Spirit.
Taking care of your overall outlook and well-being is as important as taking care of your blood pressure and cholesterol. But you can’t let things like eating a healthy diet, limiting alcohol, or quitting smoking stress you out.
